Research and Planning; Cutting Hedge Project Research
GYBC and their role with this project:
The Great Yarmouth Borough Council role in this project is
having three neighbourhood offices on the MESH Shrubland site. At each of the
three offices they have a team of people who engage with local people, listen
to their ideas, link people into services and activities as well as offer
practical support to start community projects.
MES
MESH is a Gorleston neighbourhood programme, they aim to
assist local people to become more personally resilient and less reliant on
services. Thy build upon a sense of community by supporting groups and
activities, they cover all subjects that affect everyday life in Gorleston from
parking to befriending, they also work with a variety of organisations and
partners to bring services into Gorleston.
Voluntary Norfolk and Cutting Hedge:
Voluntary Norfolk is dedicated to delivering services that
enable strong communities where people are able to work together to improve
their live and fulfill their ambitions. They promote, support and develop
volunteering and work of voluntary organisations, they also aim to encourage
recognition and understanding of the value of the sector in the achievement of
individual well-being and an inclusive and fair society.
MESH trust is based at Shrubland youth and adult centre based
in Gorleston and runs a wide variety of activities for local people, including
Cutting Hedge. Cutting Hedge is a community group based at MESH that helps
local residences with attending their gardens and helping the community and
also building up their self-esteem and building up their skills to make a
living of working in gardens and the community coming together.
East Norfolk Sixth Form College:
East Norfolk Sixth Form College helped with is project by
creating a promotional video to support MESH and The Cutting Hedge and also
promoting the college and giving its film and media students and opportunity to
work professionally in a working environment.
